Loved in and out of the water!
Jerry and I have lived on Morse Lake in central Indiana for over 30 years. We moved here from Chicago in 1976. We started our search for a Portuguese Water Dog in 1989. I worked for my Veterinarian for over 20 years and became quite familiar with most dog breeds. We wanted an intelligent breed that would enjoy the water as much as we do so the Portuguese Water Dog became an easy choice. Bubba, our first PWD, came to live with us in 1990 and that was the start of our involvement in the breed.
We both are involved in raising and training our Water Dogs. We have finished many of our dogs in conformation, agility, obedience and water. All of our dogs have obtained the highest level water titles and we now compete in the Versatility level because they still love the competition.
Jerry and I are both active in our regional club, Overboard PWD Club, and we are founding members. I served as President for several years. Jerry is our water equipment person and rower extraordinaire. I am the Chairperson for the Club's water events. I am also a Water Judge for our National Club and have been for over 15 years. I am a past chair for the National Water Committee. Jerry is the chief steward for our water trials and has been active in the water training here at our house for years.

Introducing our good friends and co-breeders!
Hi, my name is Jodi Mara. My husband Jason and I have always been around dogs and they are a huge part of our lives. After we got married, we were on a quest to find the perfect dog to start our family. We ultimately chose a Portuguese Water Dog to join our busy lifestyle.
In 1999 we were introduced to Mary-Kay and Jerry Schroeder, who changed our lives forever. In 2000 we adopted our first portie, Lucy, and we have been hooked ever since. They are not just dogs, they are part of our family. It wasn’t until our boys were older that I started water work with Kona. Kona has achieved her junior, apprentice, working, and working water dog excellence titles and we are now working together on her courier title and loving every minute of it.
After working closely with Mary-Kay, I am following in her footsteps with the main goal of breeding healthy puppies with sound temperaments. We are committed to continuing this fun loving, loyal, intelligent breed and everything they have to offer.
